I am sure you must have heard plenty of times that working out is important and I really don’t have the intention to add up in that bulk. Are you someone who is not into exercising, and maintaining body health? Well! If yes, that’s ok! We all want to become those efficient souls and bodied humans that maintain a balance between both the worldly duties and self-care, but we hate working out at the same time. Don’t we? Well Of course! After all, it’s really hard to follow an exercise regime with all the hassle of the day.
If I would lecture you that you must do exercise to stay healthy and fit you may barely listen to what I am saying because we-“Humans” are wired to work on logics and do things that make a sense to us. I know you must be struggling with your day to day life routine. Therefore, it’s pretty obvious that such mental pressure to be productive each day may sometimes get to your mental health. I mean, you might find yourself depressed or have anxiety attacks often. If this is the case, trust me, it’s ok! We will figure it out, right in this discussion. Now the question is that what should we be doing to keep our physical and mental health in place? Well! I will give you all the tips on that, but before jumping onto the solution, it’s important to realize what the problem actually is?
Don’t Confuse Workout with Weight Issues
Firstly, it is important that you have a clear picture in your mind that working out or having a session of intense workout daily is not something restricted to weight gain or loss issues. It’s way more advanced than just dealing with weight problems. No matter how skinny you are, having intense physical activity for at least 30-45 minutes a day is equally important for you as it is for overweight or obese individuals. Secondly, try to understand the science behind exercising so next time you think of skipping a day to gym you have good logical reasons to convince you to not.
What Changes Exercise Brings in Our Bodies?
The problem lies in our understanding. Yes! We don’t really have a sound explanation in our minds that why should we incorporate exercise into our lives. So, it is extremely vital that we understand what changes exercising bring in our body and how it works? Let’s take an insight into our bodies. There are a couple of hormones and chemicals produced by our bodies that control our mood, emotions, and behaviours, to be more precise.
Effect On Mood
Working out or exercising triples the production of a hormone called Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). It plays a vital role in improving mood, memory and boosting the cognitive function. Furthermore, it also contributes in preventing neurodegenerative diseases by repairing the neurons in the brain. Other than this, enhanced heart rate due to intense exercise tends to stimulate the production of endorphins in the bloodstream. This chemical creates a rush of good feeling to reduce the sensation of pain in your body that arises while exercising.
Stress Management
Well! Not just bodily benefits exercise offers way more than that. It helps to maintain mental health by releasing dopamine, serotonin and norepinephrine. All these chemical and hormones play a vital role in maintaining good mental health. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter which is extremely important for having a sane mind. It plays a critical role in regulating memory, motivation, attention and the feeling of happiness and reward. On the other hand, serotonin is important for good mood, controlling emotions, balance appetite and sleep. While, norepinephrine helps in maintaining blood pressure, decreasing blood flow to the bowels and bladder, and most importantly in sharpening mental activity.

Apart from producing all these moods and mental health stabilizing chemicals or hormones, exercising also regulate chemicals to repair body health. These chemicals include cortical, glucagon, insulin, Epinephrine and many more.
Eating Clean Act Synergistically with Working Out
Working out alone can never be sufficient. I am sure you must have heard the quote, which says, “You are what you eat”. This clearly reflects the importance of eating clean as it works synergistically with exercising. Let me tell you one thing that having a well-balanced diet is crucial for a sound mental health. You must be wondering that what exactly I want you to eat, right? Well! It’s important to have a healthy intake of all the essential nutrients your body needs to stay fit. You know what equally important is? It’s balancing the proportion of carbohydrates, proteins, and fat according to your body mass requirements.
Let me give you an example to simplify it. You must have food rich in protein and complex carbohydrates. Such food helps to keep you full for a longer time and also contributes in improving your concentration and mood. For instance, a nutritious diet having a variety of fruits, vegetables, fruits, low-fat dairy products, whole grains and lean proteins will do the job perfectly.
What Should You Avoid Eating?
Eating processed food, junk items, saturated fats, refined sugar, or salt will destroy your body and mind health. Well, these are the foods you should avoid consuming. Other than these food items, you must avoid drinking alcohol or fizzy drinks. Moreover, having an exceedingly high dose of caffeine is also not good for your health.
